Being under the gun in the chipmaking industy is common. Being succesful is uncommon.
New controls. New machines. Upgrades. Licensing agreements. It will never end.
It is vibrant to be cutting edge. It is exhilarating to be cutting edge. It is expensive to be cutting edge.
It is possible to be vibrant, exciting and competitive and to be free from high priced controls that throw the proverbial wrench into the gearbox. We have used our clout in this industry and our hammer throw must have hit one or two of these CEO'S in the motion control industry on the part that hurt.
Motion control platforms have been reduced in price to a point where the unheard of is now obtainable.
The control producers have reduced the hardware costs to the point where the retrofits that we quoted out 3 years ago are still so valid that if anyone wanted to pay that price we would oblige them and smile. All the way to the bank.
No way.
We have always had one problem. We were raised in machine shops. Our parents taught us better.
We are passing these cost reductions on to our end users.
